Bee Cushion Kit & Pattern

Create your own cosy cushion with a Bee embroidery kit!

  • suitable for beginners
  • includes organic & fair trade cushion cover
  • includes a pack of bee friendly wildflower seeds and bee charm from the Scottish Beekeepers' Association
  • cushion measures 45cm x 45cm (18 x 18 inches)

For every Bee cushion kit sold, Paraffle donates £14 to the Scottish Beekeepers' Association charity (Scottish charity number: SC009345).

Note that cushion filler/inner is not provided with this kit.

Paraffle Note:  this paisley bee was the first design created by a customer vote! After asking which animal you wanted to see next, the bee came out on top - and this is the result.  I'm so proud to partner with the Scottish Beekeepers with this kit. As well as creating a gorgeous cushion for your home, you can support vital work in bee conservation (and even plant your own wildflowers!) - what's not to love?!

    1. Our cushions are organic and ethically sourced: the fabric is made by a family business in South India, then given to a local women’s co-op to stitch into cushions.

    2. Our kits are as eco-friendly as possible, with sustainable packaging and recycled postal mailers.

    3. All Paraffle kits are handmade in Scotland, in our Edinburgh studio - buying from us means supporting a small, female founded business.

    4. All of our kits - from super simple to intermediate - include a detailed booklet, with lots of photos to teach you each stitch. If videos are more your style, there’s video tutorials covering every stitch you’ll need in our ‘Stitches’ blog.

    5. The kit includes a high quality reference photo of the finished design, and an easy to follow key showing you which stitches and colours to use.

    6. Each kit includes a quality 8 inch wooden hoop and plenty of DMC thread (so don’t worry if you make a mistake or want to practice first!).

    7. Our kits come with a pre-printed pattern to stick onto your fabric. It’s water-soluble, so you simply stitch over it, then wash it away (don’t worry, the threads are coloursafe!). Our patterns aren’t printed directly onto the fabric - we’ve done our research, and haven’t found any fabric printers that can tell us exactly where their fabric comes from and how it’s made. That’s important to us - so we found another way!

    8. Embroidery is a helpful tool for encouraging mindfulness and giving you some extra head space. Our kits aim to gently teach you lifelong skills and get your creative juices flowing (even if you’re not a ‘crafty’ person!).

    9. We’re a carbon neutral business, and donate at least 10% of our profits to charity through dedicated charity designs.

Lovely gift

The cushion kit was for a birthday gift. My friend was absolutely delighted with it and couldn't wait to start it.

Great quality

Quick delivery, excellent quality and a bonus that some of the money from purchase goes to helping bees. Looking forward to doing the embroidery.

Beautiful!

Easy to do and it looks beautiful. This is the second Paraffle project I have done and I think I’ll be doing more!

very happy with the kit add the stitch advice, but I'm confused as to why there was so much thread left over. I used 2 strands as advised but have only used half the thread sent. Also it was very difficult to tell which way round the iron on interface should go - I could not tell a shiny from non shiny side and ended up securing it very securely to my teatowel by mistake. I should have tried a small corner first of course.
