Split Stitch is great for creating smooth, curved lines without leaving gaps between stitches - and it’s easy to do, too!
I used 6 strands of thread for this video - but I normally use 2 to 4 strands for Split Stitch.
- Start with a single stitch - between 0.5 and 1cm long.
- Bring your needle up right in the middle of your first stitch, splitting the strands of thread…then go forward and create another stitch.
- Repeat! Come up in the middle of your previous stitch - then go forward to create your next stitch.
Make sure your needle splits the thread, rather than passing between strands - and try to keep all of your stitches similar lengths.
Easy!
