Green Sloth Cushion Kit & Pattern

Our Green Sloth Cushion Embroidery Kit  is the perfect beginners' DIY kit for modern hand embroidery.

This kit has everything that you need to embroider your own tropical sloth cushion cover - each one is designed to include ten types of embroidery stitch, and the guide included gives practical instructions and pictures for each one. The cushion cover included is premade, organic, and Fairtrade, with a zip opening - so no difficult sewing required, just the sloth embroidery! They're great for adding a jungle themed twist to any room - or as a gift for crafty friends!

This version of my Sloth design - with a green background, rather than navy blue - has been created for Communidad Inti Wara Yassi, a wildlife sanctuary in Bolivia (see below). £15 from each kit sold will be donated directly to their work toward caring for, rescuing, and rehabilitating wild animals seized from illegal trafficking.

Note that cushion filler/inner is not provided with this kit.

Communidad Inti Wara Yassi (CIWY) is a Bolivian non-governmental organisation dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and care of wildlife that has fallen victim to illegal trafficking and other harm. They collaborate with the Bolivian authorities to enforce the law, to seize and rescue animals from poachers and merchants, as well as zoos when conditions do not meet legal requirements. As Bolivia’s leading organisation in the fight for animal rights and wildlife care, they conduct educational projects locally and nationally, as well as research projects that support their conservation efforts.

    1. Our cushions are organic and ethically sourced: the fabric is made by a family business in South India, then given to a local women’s co-op to stitch into cushions.

    2. Our kits are as eco-friendly as possible, with sustainable packaging and recycled postal mailers.

    3. All Paraffle kits are handmade in Scotland, in our Edinburgh studio - buying from us means supporting a small, female founded business.

    4. All of our kits - from super simple to intermediate - include a detailed booklet, with lots of photos to teach you each stitch. If videos are more your style, there’s video tutorials covering every stitch you’ll need in our ‘Stitches’ blog.

    5. The kit includes a high quality reference photo of the finished design, and an easy to follow key showing you which stitches and colours to use.

    6. Each kit includes a quality 8 inch wooden hoop and plenty of DMC thread (so don’t worry if you make a mistake or want to practice first!).

    7. Our kits come with a pre-printed pattern to stick onto your fabric. It’s water-soluble, so you simply stitch over it, then wash it away (don’t worry, the threads are coloursafe!). Our patterns aren’t printed directly onto the fabric - we’ve done our research, and haven’t found any fabric printers that can tell us exactly where their fabric comes from and how it’s made. That’s important to us - so we found another way!

    8. Embroidery is a helpful tool for encouraging mindfulness and giving you some extra head space. Our kits aim to gently teach you lifelong skills and get your creative juices flowing (even if you’re not a ‘crafty’ person!).

    9. We’re a carbon neutral business, and donate at least 10% of our profits to charity through dedicated charity designs.

I bought this as a birthday present for my daughter and she was absolutely delighted with the quality of the contents which had been carefully thought through and beautifully packaged. She can't wait to get started. Thank you Paraffle.
