Spring & Summer Stitching: 5 Botanicals to Brighten Your Hoop

I think it’s fair to say most of us have a favourite when it comes to thinking about the seasons. Maybe winter is where you come alive - that hibernation, cosy life is definitely best for some of us! Or perhaps you’re a true summer lover who counts down the days each year until the sun-filled days and lighter nights come back. Either way, it’s hard to deny that spring is always a joyful moment of the year. The blooms and blossoms bring colour and hope after the darker days and I, for one, am always here for it!

Paraffle’s home of Scotland is certainly known for its intense winters so, since we’re soon to be emerging into spring, we thought we’d put together a vibrant collection of our favourite spring and summer embroidery kits to get everyone in the mood!

Flowers and botanicals are always a big design inspiration for us, so luckily we’ve got a lovely selection of bright, floral patterns and kits to suit everyone.

1. Cherry Blossom Embroidery Kit

Is there much more spring-coded than cherry blossoms?! This kit is inspired by spring scenes in Edinburgh, but this type of blossom is renowned around the world as a marker of the season. The design is full of bold, colourful texture and you’ll be a french knot pro by the end, as all the gorgeous blossoms are created using this staple embroidery stitch.

2. Daffodil Mini Embroidery Kit

OK, I know I just said that you can’t get much more spring-y than cherry blossoms, but daffodils surely have to be a major contender for the top spot. Seeing bunches bursting up as the seasons change is always a joyful sight, and this mini 3-inch hoop is a lovely way to add a colourful pop of spring to your stitch list. Its size makes it an ideal activity to keep in your bag for quiet moments out and about or on your work commute - which is extra perfect because, if you haven’t already heard, 2026 is all about analogue activities that keep us off our phones and in the present moment.

3. Flower Vase Embroidery Kit

I love a vase of fresh flowers as much as the next person but, with this bold floral hoop, you never need to remember to pick some up from the shop or change the water again! You’ll have a gorgeous bouquet of summer flowers on display at all times. This pattern will seriously up your stitch game, too - it includes a selection of more advanced techniques such as Picot Stitch, Braided Chain Stitch, Colonials Knots, and Turkey Work.

4. Morris & Co Inspired Embroidery

Another bright and beautiful botanical kit that will introduce you to some of the more technically advanced stitches. Morris & Co. designs are totally iconic and I have found them hugely inspiring when making many of my patterns. This particular design was originally created when Dovecot Studios in Edinburgh asked me to host a workshop alongside their "Morris & Co. - The Art of Wallpaper" exhibition, but I thought it was too special not to share as a kit for more stitchers to enjoy.

5. Summer Wreath Embroidery Kit

Wreaths are a fab way of switching up your decor to match the season. This summer wreath embroidery kit is no exception - sunflowers are a classic symbol of the warmer months and that touch of cornflower-inspired blue really makes the sundrenched colours pop. This kit would be the perfect summer holiday project - think slow days sat at the beach or by the pool, stitching a piece that will serve as a reminder of special times for years to come.
