Green Sloth Tote Bag Kit

This paisley style Sloth Tote Kit is the perfect way for beginners to embroider their own bag.

The newest version of my sloth design - with a green background, rather than navy - has been created for Communidad Inti Wara Yassi, a Bolivian wildlife sanctuary (more details below). £12.50 from each kit sold will be donated directly to their efforts toward rehabilitating, rescuing, and caring for animals seized from illegal trafficking.

This DIY kit includes everything you need to get started on the basics of hand embroidery - while making a lovely bag that you can show off out and about! The sloth design uses ten different embroidery stitches, and the practical guide included teaches you all the techniques you need. The tote is pre-made, organic, and ethically sourced, so you can easily get started on your own piece of modern embroidery.  They're great for people looking to get stuck into a new craft - or a gift for a creative friend!

Communidad Inti Wara Yassi (CIWY) is a Bolivian non-governmental organisation dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and care of wildlife that has fallen victim to illegal trafficking and other harm. They collaborate with the Bolivian authorities to enforce the law, to seize and rescue animals from poachers and merchants, as well as zoos when conditions do not meet legal requirements. As Bolivia’s leading organisation in the fight for animal rights and wildlife care, they conduct educational projects locally and nationally, as well as research projects that support their conservation efforts.

    1. Our kits are as eco-friendly as possible: the tote bags are pre-made and Earth Positive® (organic and GOTS certified), with sustainable packaging, and recycled postal mailers.
    2. All Paraffle kits are handmade in Scotland, in our Edinburgh studio - buying from us means supporting a small, female founded business.

    3. All of our kits - from super simple to intermediate - include a detailed booklet, with lots of photos to teach you each stitch. If videos are more your style, there’s video tutorials covering every stitch you’ll need in our ‘Stitches’ blog.

    4. The kit includes a high quality reference photo of the finished design, and an easy to follow key showing you which stitches and colours to use.

    5. Each kit includes a quality 8 inch wooden hoop and plenty of DMC thread (so don’t worry if you make a mistake or want to practice first!).

    6. Our kits come with a pre-printed pattern to stick onto your fabric. It’s water-soluble, so you simply stitch over it, then wash it away (don’t worry, the threads are coloursafe!). Our patterns aren’t printed directly onto the fabric - we’ve done our research, and haven’t found any fabric printers that can tell us exactly where their fabric comes from and how it’s made. That’s important to us - so we found another way!

    7. Embroidery is a helpful tool for encouraging mindfulness and giving you some extra head space. Our kits aim to gently teach you lifelong skills and get your creative juices flowing (even if you’re not a ‘crafty’ person!).

    8. We’re a carbon neutral business, and donate at least 10% of our profits to charity through dedicated charity designs.

Green Sloth Tote Bag Kit

I've yet to start the green sloth tote bag kit. I was impressed with the packaging and presentation. A lot of thought had clearly been put into this and I loved all the little finishing touches.

I'm not sure how well the transfer of the pattern onto the fabric will go but nothing ventured, nothing gained! The instructions are detailed and helpful, the stitch guide booklet is easy to understand and again presentation and quality is of a high standard. I very much look forward to starting this project and I'm pleased that I discovered Paraffle...thank you!

Bought as a birthday gift for my daughter who loves sloths. She was delighted with it and very impressed with the ethics behind it. Brilliant service as usual Paraffle.
